In my series “Cracks and Holes” I delve into the unsettling subject of gender based violence, shedding light on its impact and societal norms. Through these works I aim to provoke thoughts, evoke emotion and initiate conversations that address the issue. “Cracks and holes” symbolize the hidden and often overlooked aspect of gender-based violence. It represents the deeply rooted fractures within our society, the gaps in our understanding and the spaces where victims’ stories are silenced. Each artwork in this series is a visual narrative, a testament to the experiences endured by survivors of gender based violence. I used a variety of mediums, charcoal, ink, graphite pencil and acrylics paints to evoke emotions and challenge preconceived notions. Within the cracks and holes, I embed imagery that represent both the pain and the resilience of survivors. My exploration of gender-based violence extends beyond the portrayal of its harsh realities. I strive to offer a glimmer of hope and empowerment within my artworks, Through the use of light and contrasting elements I aim to convey a sense of resilience, transformation and the potential for healing and growth. By presenting these works to the public, I intend to spark conversations and encourage dialogue about the urgent need for change, inviting the viewers to confront the uncomfortable truths surrounding gender-based violence, challenging societal norms and actively participate in creating a safer and more inclusive world for all.
